Activities
- Visit to Alafoss Icelandic Wool Factory
We will start the journey taking the bus from Reykjavík to Alafoss, visiting the icelandic Wool Factory, one of the most important factory of Island’s history. A great opportunity for participants to learn more about icelandic wool and how it is processed and transformed into custom wool sweaters, shoes and accessories.
- Visit and Workshop at Icelandic Textile Center
In the afternoon, the bus will stop in Blönduós, where participants will visit the Icelandic Textile Center and take part in a practical workshop.
“Founded in 2005 and now merged with the Blönduós Academic Center (Þekkingarsetur), the Icelandic Textile Center aims to promote and develop Icelandic and international textiles, We collaborate on research projects in areas important to the region and encourage collaboration, education, and innovation in the field of textiles, textile art and design. Domiciled under the roof of the historical building of Kvennaskólinn, a former Women’s College, the Textile Center Residency provides visiting students, scholars, and artists with working spaces to conduct their artistic practice, research, and study-trips within textiles.”
At 18:00 the Bus will depart from Blönduós to Sauðárkrókur.
