Activities

On the second day of Bootcamp, the activities will take place in Yerevan.

Two visits are scheduled during the day and one hands-on workshop about wool dyeing with locals, held at WoolWay Studios.


  • Visit at Lusik Aguletsi

Participants will have the opportunity to enjou a private tour at Lusik Aguletsi’s art studio in Yerevan where they can admire her paintings up close and learn about her unique creative process.

Lusik Aguletsi, born Lusik Zhorzhiki Harutyunyan in Nakhichevan in 1946, was a renowned Armenian painter, ethnographer, and Honored Cultural Worker. Recognized as the last person in Yerevan to regularly wear traditional Armenian attire, she significantly contributed to Armenian cultural heritage. Raised in Agulis until her family’s relocation to Yerevan in 1953, her experiences inspired a character in Akram Aylisli’s novel, Stone Dreams. Aguletsi studied at the Panos Terlemezyan Art College from 1963 to 1967, receiving accolades, and became a member of the Artists’ Union of Armenia in 1974. Her artistic legacy extends globally, with her paintings displayed in museums and private collections. Additionally, she actively pursued ethnography, amassing a diverse collection of cultural artifacts from her native Agulis and other regions of Western and Eastern Armenia.


  • Wool Dyeing Workshop with Locals at Wool Way

In this hands-on workshop, participants will delve into the art of mordanting, dye extraction, and color application. Each step unveils the traditional methods that have been passed down through generations, showcasing the harmony between nature and craftsmanship. As they experiment with the dyes, they will witness the magic of creating unique shades that mirror the landscape and cultural heritage of Armenia.

The workshop offers insights into the cultural significance of colors and dyeing practices in Armenian traditions. Participants will engage in discussions with passionate artisans, who will share stories about the symbolism embedded in each color and the historical importance of dyeing in Armenian textiles.
